'Helpline'
Dominantly
concerned with creating awareness of traffic
rules and regulations,
discipline, pollution control, petrol
saving, etc., we take up all sorts of
complaints and after studying the case
guide the complainant accordingly. Besides
providing help, we create awareness through
the Press.
We
are always there to help the Police Department
for regulating Traffic Controlling violation
of Traffic Rules. Our special task force
is always there to help Police and Ganesh
Madals at the time of Ganesh Festival
and Navaratri Festival.
When
the rickshaws went on strike inconveniencing
the Puneites, we made sure that they did
their part to ease the problems of the
public…we arranged our vehicles
at various posts in the city where anyone
in need of transport had to just give
a call.
In
December 1998, we organized a live Orchestra
performance for the military people in
Leh.
Besides all these and more, we help the
government during the elections and also
invite inspectors to Colleges to create
traffic awareness among the youth. There
is no membership to this organization…anyone
is welcome to join voluntarily. We also
believe that work is first priority and
so do not expect a person to be present
for every issue or cause that we take
up. However, although all 250 members
are not present at the same time for various
issues there are always definitely 50-60
of them to offer help.

In
the National disaster and in particular
the Gujarat Earthquake, our organisation
decided to accumulate help and reach
it to the needy. Our organisation
with its full force of volunteers
started collecting all sorts donations
in kind from every nook and corner
of Pune City. Donations in kind like,
cloths, food grains medicines and
another household goods. As the word
of mouth spread the general public
on their own came to our office with
the
necessity material. While visiting
various societies we just made an
announcement on the loudspeaker fixed
on our collection van and in no timer
the help would start pouring in. The
response was overwhelming. It just
took us a few days to collect more
than two truckloads of material.
For
sorting this collected material we
got help from FC College Ladies Hostel,
Art of Living, Study Circle and other
near by society members round the
clock.
Besides the general public, we also
got material and help from the 'Southern
Command' (Military) Pune. It was an
honorable moment for us as they placed
their faith own our organisation and
ask us to take the supplies directly
to the needy.
Our
two trucks started their journey on
4th Feb. for Morvi (Gujarat) with
prior permission from Poona Collector
with our team of 15 volunteers. Knowing
the gravity of situation our trucks
was not stopped at any check post,
octrai naka and other border posts
by any Govt. agencies whatsoever.
On
6th Feb. we reached Morvi (Gujarat).
Earlier we had intimated of our arrival
to one of our associate Mr. Jitubhai
Mehta, a Press Reporter by profession.
He had made survey of nearby villages
and town where any sort of help had
not reached so far.
One
by one we started visiting the villages.
We were spelled bound by the devastating
damages caused by the earthquake.
In most of villages we failed to find
a single building structure standing.
What we saw was all debris, heaps
of soil, stone, wood and house hold
goods scattered all over the place.
As
soon as we reached a village we used
to meet the head of the village and
ask him to enlighten us of the situation
prevailing in that place. According
to their needs, we used to unload
our trucks and hand it over to him
for distribution to the villagers.
The
villages we visited were Moti Barar,
Chaspar, Navagram, Piplia, Malia and
others. While covering all this area
one astonishing fact we saw was none
of the Idols in the temples were damaged.
Secondly we found the villagers all
staying together in the tents made
by themselves in the open like one
single joint family. All the barriers
of Cast and Creeds, Rich and Poor,
Hindus and Muslims was not to be found.
We think this is a plus point because
of which they stood the test of time
and fought the natural calamity bravely.
It might be
because no Politician and Political
Party volunteers had reached them
before us.

Rickshaw
Strike (18 January 1998 / 6th June 1999)
|
|
During
the Rickshaw Strike, we at Helpline
For You have tried to help the maximum
needy travelers that we came across.
We had tremendous response to our
press note. We arranged transportation
for approx. 3500 persons, comprising
of cases of emergencies, like hospitalisation
and reaching Bus or Railway Station
etc. For the services rendered we
did not accept any gifts or donations
readily offered by the public. For
the emergency we had a solid strong
force of 100 volunteers with motor
bikes or cars.
Our services were very much appreciated
by General Public, Police Dept., Grahak
Panchayat and many others. Famous
personalities like Ms. Ashalata Naik
had called on us.

In
Helpline For You service to the Society
is our duty, that is the feeling of
Helpline volunteers.
From
the last few years, we have been assisting
the Police Dept. during the Ganesh
Festival. This year the Dept. issued
us Identity Cards as their volunteers
on special duty. More than 100 volunteers
were on duty on the field round the
clock in different areas of our City.
Our volunteers were in our organisational
uniform. We were busy helping Childrens,
Ladies, Old peoples, and Handicap
persons participating in the 10 days
old festival. We controlled some of
the anti-social elements and, caught
red-handed some of them and handed
over to the authorities. Similarly
we gave services at the Navaratri
festival and on the eve of New Year
Day.
Our
services were very much appreciated
by Ganapati Madals like, Akhil Mandai
Mandal, the Pune Police and the General
Public.
Appreciation Certificates
were given to volunteers by CP Pune
and Vignaharta Trust rewarded our
organisation on 21st Oct 2000 with
a Prestigious Trophy at Balgandharva

food and drugs products. We have made
complaints and got results in our
favor against Cadbury Gems, Mineral
Water and other Food Products. We
have taken up the related cases with
Govt. Dept. and other concerned authorities
and saw that the company takes care
and not to repeat the mistake in the
future.

From
last few years Pakistan is supporting
terrorist activities in India. They
have started proxy war against us.
They have tortured our soldiers taken
as prisoners of war against all International
agreements and their mutilated bodies
were handed over to us. This is what
happened in the recent Kargil invasion.
On
19th June 1999, at 11:00 AM our organisation
made a Public Protested against Pakistan.
We took a procession to Alka Chowk
and burnt a dummy of the Pakistan
Leader. Simultaneously a strong protest
letter has been faxed to Pakistan
Embassy.
We support our brave soldiers whole-heartedly.
We appeal to the Government not to
rest till the enemy is driven back
to LOC and teach them a good lesson
to be remembered in the future.

to medical & health problems.
Our many volunteers are Traffic Warden

traffic as and when required we are
there. We are always there at the
time of big occasions, festivals,
election or on some special day. We
took seminars at different colleges
and through function, in which we
aware public about Traffic Problems,
Pollution Problem. We also aware public
about the help to the victim of Accident
person.
During
rainy season the vehicle should have
Rubber Mud flap. We appeled public
to have a Mud flap which offers protection
from mud to ourself, other vehicle
drivers and the pedestrians. We offerd

There
was this Ex. Employee of a highly
reputed company who went about swindling
people using the company’s name.
He was offering a Job in the company
with 15-20 thousand amount in cash.
We cross checked with the company
and on realizing that he was a con
man, wrote about the same in the newspapers
to warn the public and helped the
police to arrest him.
There
was a cheating case done by a representative
of Bank Staff. This staff member of
bank is daily collection agent for
a good reputated bank. He collected
the cash but not deposited in the
bank. We have followed up bank to
get back that cash to concerned person.

We
welcomed all the Passengers of our
hijacked plane.
We can imagine the joy and happiness
of their relatives and friends, who
will receive them in the New Year
with almost a new lease of life. We
join them in this moment of their
happiness.
But
the sad thing is that we are going
to release three hard core terrorists
as per the decision taken by the Indian
Government after negotiating with
the hijackers.
It is really very sad that a strong
and powerful nation like India has
succumbed to some inappropriate demands
of the hijackers. We feel this will
aggravate and encourage further such
incidents in the years to come. Hope
the government could have solved the
problem by some other means but anyway
they are the best Judge at this moment.
Hope
this particular incident will make
our government more alert towards
the inhuman activities of our neibours.
The positive side of the whole side
is the stand taken by Pakistan and
the Afghan regime or to be more specific
the Talibans. They now stand more
exposed before the whole world as
regards to their ways and means of
takling the political situation in
Kashmir.
